Mott The Hoople Tour UK

Hey dudes, Mott The Hoople have announced tour dates in the UK and tickets go on sale Friday, April 26th. Act fast and prep to sit tight as the gigs are in November, launching from Birmingham’s Symphony on the 11th and wrapping up at the O2 in London on the 18th.

Drummer Martin Chambers (Pretenders) will sit in for original member Dale ‘Buffin’ Griffin who is unable to perform due to health issues. So, “hey you, with the glasses” its only five gigs in five cities so we trust you’ll plan accordingly and show Ian Hunter and company your utmost support. Buy a ticket or “carry the news” and check the official site Thursday, April 25th at 9AM for special links.

So, 25 years to the day after first seeing/meeting Ian Hunter, our anniversary of that epic event couldn’t of been any more perfect. A line stretched around the Beachland in Cleveland, Ohio as many folks buzzed about hoping to obtain a ticket, some lucked out, others we hear, did not. The Ballad Of Mott The Hoople movie premiers at the 54th BFI London Film Festival - 13th-28th of October 2010. Classic Rock reported that the MTH film would show on the 16th, 18th and 19th. Bonus: this long awaited film includes footage from the 2009 reunion concerts at the Hammersmith Apollo.

Visit the BBC website for a video snippet  and comments about the film. Lets hope the USA get treated to this spendor on the big screen.

The special guest (formerly surprise guest) at MTH/MTK will be none other than JOHN FIDDLER, singer of post-Mott band BRITISH LIONS and leader of the legendary MEDICINE HEAD.

Among his greatest fans were two other Johns – Peel and Lennon.

Mott The Hoople were added to the Mojo Magazine Hall of Fame at the 2009 ceremony unveiling the Mojo Honours List, held at the Brewery in London on 11 June 2009. The band were inducted by Def Leppard vocalist Joe Elliott, one of the group’s most prominent fans. In addition to Mott The Hoople, The Zombies’ Odessey And Oracle took home the Classic Album Award, Phil Lynott received the Icon Award, and Yoko Ono received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
