Remembering Marc Bolan

33 years ago today we tragically lost our metal guru, our electric warrior, the one and only Marc Bolan in a fatal car crash in Barnes, England.  Three decades later his elfin spirit continues to reign through his words and his music. Marc was the real deal; a poet, a guitarist,  a real 20th century superstar and like many of you we’ve pledged to keep Marc in our hearts.  Today and always.

We dedicate this tribute to Gloria and Rolan.

Schools Out – Not!

Typically we avoid promoting corporate stores however this commercial is too cute to avoid. This one goes out to all of our friends that have recently went back to school. Best wishes for a great year.

MORE THAN THIS – THE STORY OF ROXY MUSIC DVD

New Releases – DVD/Blu-ray

Eagle Rock Entertainment is proud to announce the release on DVD of More Than This – The Story Of Roxy Music[Cat No EREDV586] on 19 October 2009. Fully endorsed and authorized by all members of Roxy Music, this title includes unique footage of the band in the studio with Brian Eno for the first time since 1973. “More Than This – The Story Of Roxy Music” also contains many classic live performance clips.

Originally broadcast by the BBC in late 2008, the DVD contains nearly half an hour of additional unseen material plus three bonus previously unreleased live tracks and additional interview material.

Roxy Music’s unique blend of avant garde rock music and high style set the tone for the whole glam rock era. They were much imitated but never equaled. This DVD tells the story of Roxy Music through new interviews with band members Bryan Ferry, Phil Manzanera, Andy Mackay, Paul Thompson, Brian Eno and Eddie Jobson plus many of their contemporaries. The programme covers their early years, the classic seventies albums, their re-emergence with a much smoother style in the early eighties, the band’s break up and then their hugely successful reunion in the 21st century.

Clocking in with over an hour and a half of entertainment, More Than This – The Story Of Roxy Music is an essential document of a truly exceptional act. As a bonus we include previously unavailable live tracks from Dock Rock [filmed London, 22nd July 2006]: ‘Both Ends Burning’, ‘Editions Of You’ and ‘Do The Strand.’

Who Will Play Marc?

090711marc

Masterplan Film Productions Ltd have secured the film rights to Twentieth Century Boy, a biopic of legendary T.Rex frontman Marc Bolan.

Marc Bolan has gone down in history as a cultural icon whose hit singles, fashion sensibilities and stage presence with T.Rex in the early 1970s helped cultivate the glam rock era. He remains one of the most recognisable stars in British music.

The script has been written by first time scribe Susie Kahlich, who worked closely with Bolan’s family to create an accurate and deeply personal potrayal of the legendary star. “This is a long overdue project and we’re really looking forward to finally seeing this get made” says Marc’s son, Rolan Bolan. “We think my dad’s story and his music is important not only to older fans, but appeals to a whole new crop of fans across all generations.”

Bolan’s long time partner, Gloria Jones, feels the time is right for this project. “I see 6-year olds wearing T.Rex T-shirts and dancing to Marc’s music. These young fans only go to show you that Marc was a man of great spirit and integrity, and a child at heart that could speak to all generations. We’re really excited about this film, because while Marc’s story takes place in the past, the man and his music are very relevant to the present.”
